Louisiana Dragonflies

Meadowhawks Dragonfly

Sympetrum is a genus of all small to medium-sized skimmer dragonflies, known as Darters in the UK as a meadowhawks in the North America.

Male Emperor Dragonfly

The Emperor Dragonfly, or also known as Blue Emperor, or Anax Imperator, is a large and powerful species of hawker dragonfly of the family Aeshnidae . It is found mainly in Europe, nearby Africa, and Asia.

Female Blue Skimmer Dragonfly

Blue Skimmer dragonfly, Orthetrum caledonicum. How to find out whether it's a male or female? The males have a powder blue thorax and  pruabdomeninescent  blue when mature. The females are brownish  grey in colour while teneral are yellow with black markings.

I love taking pictures of dragonfly, and these are my most favorites here. I found them in my front yard and I took the time taking pictures of them. I had so much fun!

OLD STUFF

Photograph of some old stuff

I just feel like shooting for black and white image today just when I saw grandpa's stuff behind their house. I'm very attracted to these old stuff here especially this old wheel barrow. I like the way they were arranged. I didn't arranged them.
As a photographer, all I can say is that even old stuff can still be useful in a different way. There are so many ways a photographer can do with old stuff around. So many things a photographer can see that others don't. I'm glad I have this passion.

Harvesting Blueberries

blueberries picture 1

blueberries picture 2

Blueberries at grandma's backyard are pretty tempting. I love blueberries. I made blueberry smoothie   sometimes and it's good. Blueberry is antioxidant and anti-aging fruit.
Grandma loves to pick blueberries and brought them to me. I love her! But today, it's too hot for her to go outside so me and my husband decided to pick some and take pictures of the blueberries on the branch.

Red Aphid On The Tomato

Red Aphid

Red aphid sucking the tomato's juice out. This red aphid is a very small insect  that  multiply fast especially in spring time. This kind of insect likes warm weather. This aphid here is feeding on the plant's sap by introducing his or her long, thin sucker into the tender part of the tomato.
To get rid of this kind of insect just simply use hose and spray a jet of water directly to your plants where the aphids on. Make sure they will fall to the ground. To make sure they won't comeback, simply do this everyday.

Louisiana Red Wasp

Red wasp front view

Red wasp side view

This is a red wasp. I found this playing on top of my outdoor grill. I actually ignored it at first, or let me say I was a little lazy to take pictures of this wasp at first. But after thirty minutes I stepped outside the house and this wasp was still on top of the grill. I said, "okay, you want me to take pictures of you, huh". Well, these are my favorites shots out of  thirty. I"m glad to share this to you.
Wasps are commonly regarded as pests, but are rarely dangerous. All species can sting painfully.

Tomato Beetle

Been raining all day yesterday, and I don't feel like going outside since it was so nasty and wet. So, early this morning I went outside to check some ripe tomatoes in my little garden. I found some good riped tomatoes, and I found one bad one with a tomato beetle on it. I hope I named it right (tomato beetle). Well, it's for you to judge if I'm right or not.

Rain Splash

Finally, here comes the rain, it's time to get the camera out and start capturing the rain splashing on the ground. I wish the rain last a little longer, but it only last probably 30 minutes and it's not really hard. It was just a light rain. But I'm still happy I have these two shots posted here out of many.

Close Up Photos Of A Stink Bug

This might be stinky as it looks but when I took these shots I really didn't smell anything. I used  macro both of these shots.
Other name of stink bug is brown marmorated stink bug. This insect belong to the family of Pentatomidae. This bug is native to China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan. This brown marmorated stink bug is considered  to be an agricultural pest because they can create large populations, which feed on crops (damaging production) and they are resistant to many pesticides.
They are a threat to soybeans, native and ornamental trees, cotton, corn,  vines, shrubs, weeds, and many cultivated crops.

 OTHER NAMES:

  • Green stink bug - Acrosternum hilare
  • Brown marmorated stink bug - Halyomorpha halys
  • Southern green stink bug - Nezara viridula
  • Rice stink bug - Oebalus pugnax
  • Forest bug - Pentatoma rufipes

Full Moon Fever

This is my first time taking pictures with the moon. I missed taking pictures of full moon many, many times. But this time I got it!
Been outside since 9:00 in the evening last night until 11:00 p.m. Been trying to get the best shots as possible. I don't really know exactly how many shots I got just this full moon alone. These pictures I posted below are my favorites, the rests need to be deleted.
The moon was beautiful last night and I really want to stay a little longer but, while taking pictures of it the neighbors dog kept barking on me. So, I decided to stopped cause I think I'm disturbing my neighbors from their sleep.
But I'm hoping that whoever views these photos will like them. Feel free to give your comment. Any comments are welcome.

Old Train Bridge and Tracks

This old train bridge actually connects West Monroe and Monroe also known as "Twin Cities".  Actually, when I was here taking shots of this place I wasn't alone, there was another photographer too. This bridge connects the Twin Cities over Ouachita River (wah-shi-tah) - a 548-mile-long (882 km) river that runs south and east through the U.S. states of Arkansas and Louisiana, joining the Tensas River to form the Black River near Jonesville, Louisiana.
